My Very First Features!!!!!

I am thrilled to share with you all my very first features! I have no intention in showing off, but simply wanted to share my joy with my readers along to my friends who read my blog and here they are:

I was featured in Fashion Space, it is a social publishing platforms that allows you to style your own looks and also get inspirations from looks that others created. Awhile ago, I received an invitation from Qin of Qin at the Disco to be one of the style contributors of Fashion Space. Since then, I have started creating outfit looks. Recently, I received an email from Qin telling me that they have featured my look on both their website and facebook page :) Thank you Qin!

By random chances, I was also featured in VancityBuzz, a very famous blog for the Vancouverites to get inside scoop of what's happening in Vancouver. The other day I was heading to meet my boyfriend in downtown, a girl came up to me and introduce herself as one of the photographers from VancityBuzz and would like to take a picture of my outfit of the day. So, here I was randomly featured on their blog. I know I look extremely retarded with my awkward smile on but please bare with me as I was a bit excited mix with a bit nervousness at that time.

Oh and remember how I said I forgot a piece of very important statement bracelet for my neon madness post here, this is the spike bracelet I was going to wear for that look but forgot to wear it! Boo me!

Enough with my features, today I feel like seeing myself in blonde hair so I came up with this blonde look. I always have a thing for blonde hair and blue eyes since I was very little. I even bleached my hair to blonde colour few years back and wear blue contacts everyday. How I love those days! I quit bleaching or dying my hair now since I am losing so much hair and I don't want to see myself turn into a bald woman! I have to say though, one good thing about having little hair like me is my hair grows back super quick!

 What I am wearing:
Plaid shirt - Abercrombie & Fitch (bought it on sale for less than $15!)
Colour block skirt - Forever 21
Necklace - Forever 21
Nude pumps - BCBG
Jacket - Random shop in Taipei

My latest favourite necklace!

I can't thank enough for the kind comments! By the way, my hives are gone! Thank you kindly for the heart warming comments.

Have a fun-filled evening, everyone!

Let's Dance!

Today I brought you a look inspired by the Indian dance. Since I have never been to India or seen the actual Indian dance, this is solely my own imitation of some of the moves (mainly the hand gestures) on television. I am sure I did a very poor job in pretending to look like an Indian dancer but I have lots of fun doing this photoshoot.

Although I have not been to India, I would like to share with you my older sister's funny experience there. A year ago, my sister had volunteered to help the children in one of the poorest places in India. She acted as their teacher and taught them English everyday. The town that she was in was so undeveloped that there were not any washrooms. In another words,  if someone needs to go, they would have to either find somewhere hidden (if they can find one) or pee in front of the public. My sister is a very conservative person who only wear round neck clothes, she refuse to wear any clothes that show her skin below the neck. For a person as conservative as she is to pee in front of the public was an extremely horrible (to me a funny) experience. In an almost open space, it took my sister a while to find a little bush that can (barely) cover her. She made sure (at least she thought) there was no one around before she go but when she is done and look up, there was a boy standing right in front of her watching her that whole time. Right at that moment, my sister quickly zipped up her pants and ran the opposite direction! She felt embarrassed only for the first time, after a couple of washroom experiences, my sister gave up her conservative mind and just openly show her butt when she needs to go. How a place can change a person!

Enough ranting, here's my look!

 What I am wearing:
 Dress - H&M
Shoes - Spring
Headband - Forever 21
Bangle and bracelet - Forever 21
Necklace/belt - H&M

Belt use as a necklace

Hope you like my new look! Again, I can never thank enough for all the kind comments. I am still trying my very best to respond all the comments, thank you for your patience.

Have an awesome evening everyone!

Every Dress Tells a Story

Lately I've been reading a book called Dreaming of Chanel by Charlotte Smith. It is a book filled with beautiful fashion illustrations of all the vintage dresses from the Darnell Collection that she inherited from her godmother, Doris Darnell. Aside from showcasing the vintage dresses, she also tells a little story of each dress which I enjoy reading it dearly because I feel as if I have traveled back in time while reading through the book. Dreaming of Chanel is actually Charlotte Smith's second book, her first book that she starts to write about the Darnell Collection was actually Dreaming of Dior but since I borrowed this book by random pick, I guess I will start on her second book and work my way back.

Her stories reminded me of a red dress that I received prior to my convocation day. I rarely like to spend a fortune on a dress or an outfit even when it's for a very special day. With that being said, originally I planned to wear whatever dress I can find in my closet on my graduation day. The night before my convocation, my boyfriend suddenly showed up with two Club Monaco boxes on his hands. In one box, I found a black dress and in the other box I found a red dress. He told me the reason why he bought two dresses was because he was not sure which dress I will like more and he wanted me to pick the dress that I love to wear for my convocation. As you can see from my look today, I picked the red dress to wear on my graduation and that is the end of my story of my first Club Monaco red dress.

Do you have a story of a piece in your closet to share?

Have an awesome weekend everyone!

A Kawaii Me

I was always amazed by Japan's creativity. Aside from their stunning fashion style, I also love their anime very much because I find in the world of anime, creativity has no limit. I love especially an anime called One Piece. Not only does it has an exciting story, all of its characters have its own very unique outfit and makeup look. For example, Mr. 2, one of the bad guy in the story, is a man dress up as a swan ballerina with a clown makeup look.

Isn't he so funny looking but also stylish at the same time! Japanese fashion magazines and anime are one of the places I seek for inspiration.

Where do you look for inspiration?

Masculine Side of Me

From all of my previous posts, I have show you the very feminine side of me. You guys get to see me dressing up as a bad girl, a Barbie, a robot in a white dress, and so on but rarely have I dress in a manly outfit which was basically what I mostly wore when I was little. I was raised like a boy when I was young. Back then, I did not care much about my looks as long as someone (in this case my aunt since I was staying at her place then) told me I look good in it and this was how I got my ugly boy hairstyle with straight bangs and close to a mushroom shape. Just by imagining it, I am sure you know how stupid I look! Aside from the "awesome" hairstyle, I had a horrible sense of style. I would throw on a t-shirt and baggy pants and probably wore the same outfit for a week without changing it. I played basketball with the boys. I literally look and act like a boy. I don't even remember how many people or parents had mistaken me as a boy. So you ask when did I transform back to a girl? It was when I moved in with my new guardian who was a fashion designer before I entered high school. She would criticized and laughed at what I wore and that was when I really started to care about how I look. Her criticism had opened my eyes and see how ugly I was back then. From that time onward, I have never cut my hair short again (except for the cancer drive).

I brought up this little boy story of me because today I wanted to show you my military look - a rather masculine look of me. This look is inspired by the music video of Katy Perry's part of me. My friend and my sister think I look a little bit scary, do you think so?

YO!

Back from the Desert

This new set of photos I brought to you today is inspired by the biba look back in the 1960s and 1970s and I added a light touch of gypsy style to complete my look by tying a scarf around my head.  I have always love the way how gypsy dressed (yes, I have weird taste) and my friend used to tease me by calling me a gypsy.

This photo shoot was taken at a property where the house was recently tear down and next to the leftover woods and smashed walls sits a bulldozer. When I saw that pretty thing, I suddenly had the craziest idea that I want to do a photo shoot with the bulldozer and this is what I've done. I found this place totally by driving randomly around my neighborhood. What I did not expect was how exhausting this photo shoot will be. The ground was piled with shattered woods and boards and to walk with heels on was no easy task. To make it even worst, I have to walk back and forth to set the timer of the camera. During this entire picture taking process, ten seconds timer feels like a three second timer in which it took me nine seconds to walk to the destination (it was only about five steps away), and I am only left with one second to pose. The entire picture taking process was so exhausting and dusty that after the photo shoot, I look like I just came back from the desert.

And here are the photos!

My Biba x Gypsy look
 What I am wearing:
Chiffon shirt - American Apparel
Pants - Bluenote
Grey pumps - H&M
Yellow belt - Ardene

This is how dusty my butt got after the photo shoot!

Let me know what you guys think about this look! As always, I thank you for the very beautiful comments from previous post and I wish you all a Happy Wednesday!

A Happy Ending to the Previous Chapter, May the New Journey Begin!

"School's out, Memories past, Don't ever doubt, Our friendship will last.”
- Unknown
Thank you all for the kind and loving comments from the previous post! All of your comments really means a lot to me and I would definitely respond to all the sweet comments that you left for me except that I know I am a little behind lately (sorry). My wheel of emotion has finally swung back to the top and I am back to my happy self!

Today is my best friend's graduation and I am super happy for her! Our group of closed friends and her family have all went to her convocation to celebrate this special day with her. There were a lot of funny moments while we are all trying to take pictures of her walking across the stage such as I was too focus on taking random pictures to test my camera's exposure that I didn't realize she already walked past me, her mother was so happy to see her walking across the stage that she forgot to press record on her camcorder, my other friend has to fight with a man for a spot to take picture, etc. In the end, all of us fail to take a decent picture of her on stage. After her convocation, we did our most Asian thing and that is her parents treat us for dim sum YAY! The day can't get merrier with the sunny shining brightly upon Vancouver!  Once again, I would like to congratulate her on this big day and wish her the very best on her new journey!
