Choosing the right wedding dress

Congratulations, you’re getting hitched! This ceremonial and joyous time is usually kicked off with one major task - finding the right dress.

Finding the right dress can be time consuming, stressful and troubling which is why Berkertex and other brands stock a range of dresses suitable for all occasions, making them a great first port of call for deciding what type of wedding dress you want – although there are plenty of other things to take into account too.

Consider the shape that would compliment your features most and give thought to what works best for you. Finding the right shape to flatter your figure is essential and should be one of the fundamental considerations for a bride to be.

Hourglass Shape

Hourglass shaped ladies are balanced in proportion across the top and bottom. Women with hourglass figures might want to consider a fishtail dress, which hugs both the top and bottom elements of your body. The key to dressing an hourglass figure is to pick a dress that accentuates your waist, showing off your best assets.

A two-piece gown could be ideal for women with this figure. It could be worth avoiding any extravagant embellishments on the chest or hips as they are already balanced and this could end up interfering with this.

 Triangle Shapes

Triangle shaped ladies are wider across the top than the bottom. This means that your hips could be narrower than your shoulders. One way to avoid looking like a triangle would be to add a sweeping neckline. This look works well to cover up wider shoulders.

Puffed sleeves should be avoided as this will draw attention to your shoulders. Halternecks will also help to reduce the look of broad shoulders so dresses with this neckline could be a good option.

Detailing around the neckline and lapels will accentuate your shoulders, enhancing the triangle shape. Such embellishments should therefore be avoided.

Apple Shapes

Apple shapes are top heavy and tend to have less emphasis on the bottom half of their body. Empire line dresses are great at hiding a bit of a tummy and give your waist a slimmer look.

Ball gown shapes work well for those with apple figures as they create a statement hour glass look that exudes elegance and sophistication.

Hate your facial moles? Don't be!

Because the facial mole that you hate is actually consider as beauty spot! In fact, I believe a beauty spot can actually style up your look just as makeup do. I have two relatively stand out moles on my face, one it by the side of my forehead and the other is on my cheek. I used to hate them so much that I always cover them with concealer and another big reason is in Chinese culture, any moles on the face consider as bad and will bring bad luck. However, after seeing some of the most beautiful women such as Cindy Crawford, Marilyn Monroe, Natalie Portman, etc. who are known for their beauty spots. I decided to show them off and play around with my look by having a beauty spot.

Brought to you a back to school look with a beauty spot. This will be the last photoshoot taken with my brother's camera as I bought my very first DSLR camera which I am thrilled to share it with you guys on my next post. Stay tune!

As see here, I totally fail to show off my beauty spot BOO!
 What I am wearing:
Sweater, leggings and tuque - H&M
Mini skirt - unknown
Shoes - DIY with a pair of pretend-to-be TOM that I bought for $10 from Rite-Aid

My DIY pretend-to-be TOM

Hope you like my new look! I will see you all next time!

Thank you thank you thank you all for the comments!

I Am Officially Broke!

In less than a day, my brother will be hopping on a flight for his vacation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You ask why the exclamation, not because I won't be seeing him for 3 weeks really (although part of me do feel a little relief) but because he is bringing his camera with him which also means that I will be out of camera for 3 WHOLE WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!! ARGHhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!! For the past few months, I have been relying on my brother's camera to do all my photoshoots and life without a camera is totally unimaginable! The only solution I can come up with is to get my very own camera. Which one you ask? Will show you on my next post ;) With that being said, I am officially broke!

The only place I can afford to shop in now is the dollar store! Speaking of which, I would like to share with you my wonder finds at Dollarama:

I found this Elf Total Face Brush at Dollarama selling for only $1.50!!! There are also other brand name makeup such as Maybelline and Revlon. Dollarama is selling their two shades eyeshadow for $1.50 as well!!! If you live in Vancouver, definitely go check it out! Dollarama always have some great deal goodies!

Back to today's look, makeup is supposedly inspired by Twiggy. I am not too happy with this makeup as you can see from the pictures, I look nothing like her. Anyways, here it is:

 What I am wearing:
Dress - a boutique from Santa Monica (totally forgot its name sorry)
Blue Heels - Zara
Clutch - Club Monaco
Bracelet -  Brandy Melville
Ring - Forever 21
Hat - Claire

Hope you like my new look! Have a fabulous weekend everyone! Oh and again, thank you so much for the lovely comments. You know I can never thank enough for that <3

Makeup Tutorial: Dolly Look

Let's get started with the dolly look tutorial!

1. Before applying any makeup, always prep your skin by cleansing it with oil free face wash. If you have dry skin, apply a thin layer of water base moisturizer

2. After the fierce makeup look, I realize my sister has a relatively dry skin. So instead of MAC Fix+ spray, for this look I decided to stick with Revlon PhotoReady Primer as base. Then, using a foundation brush, apply foundation all over your face. For this look, I used L'oreal True Match LUMI foundation

3. Same as the fierce makeup, using a matte finish scotch tape, cut out a double eyelid tape and tape it right where you want the eyelid to crease
4. Using a brow brush, fill in your brow starting from the middle and work you way to the outside. I used a light brown eyeshadow for the brow as this will create a softer look

5. Using a black NYX retractable eyeliner, outline the inner upper lashline

6. Using a white NYX eyeliner, outline the inner lower lashline as this will make your eyes look bigger

7. Using an eyeshadow brush, apply a baby pink eyeshadow on your eyelid. Then using a crease brush and apply a hot pink along your crease area

sorry this picture look much brighter than the other ones because it's getting dark outside and there's not enough natural light in my room so I am force to use my camera flash for this picture :/
8. Most Important Step: this is the most important step if you want to create a dolly look and that is applying false eyelashes. Using Revlon false eyelash adhesive, apply both upper and lower false eyelash. Always try to stick it as close to the lash line as possible to create a natural look. Apply a thin layer of mascara on your false eyelashes

9. Using a The Body Shop Lily Lole Lip & Cheek Dome (20 Pinch me pink), apply blush on the apples your cheek

10.  Apply highlight on the nose bridge, chin and the tip of your upper lips. I used the lightest concealer from Make Up For Ever Camouflage Cream Palette as highlight.

11. Finally, throw on a cute hair wig and you have completed this dolly look!

Makeup that I use for this look: 1. Revlon False Eyelash Adhesive 2.L'oreal True Match LUMI Foundation 3. Revlon PhotoReady Primer 4. Rimmel Glam'eyes Day 2 Night Mascara 5. Joe Nude Lipstick 6. NYX eyeliner and lipliner 7. Too Faced Bronzer 8. The Body Shop Lily Lole Cheek Dome (Pinch me pink) 9. Smith's Rosebud Salve lip balm

Hope you like this tutorial and I'll catch up with you all soon :)

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU TO ALL!!!! I am very grateful to start my blog and have a chance to meet all you all over the world. You guys are the ones who help me find my passion and give me the strength to chase my dream!

Today I brought a special guest and that is my sister! Instead of doing a makeup tutorial on my own face, I really want to challenge myself and try applying makeup on someone else. So this time, my sister will be my model for the following tutorial. You get to see her from fierce look to dolly look!

Fierce Look Tutorial

1. As usual, always prep your skin by cleansing your face with oil free face wash or if you are in a rush, fragrance free baby wipe will do just the magic.

2. Instead of applying primer, this time I used MAC Fix+ spray as base because I find primer to be a little bit oily whereas MAC Fix+ will give basically the same result but more water based. Also, keep in mind that oil is your makeup's main enemy, that's why I always try to keep my skin as oil free as possible before applying any makeup on

3. Apply foundation with a foundation brush, here I used Revlon Photoready foundation

 4. Using an angled brow brush, fill in your brow. Start in the middle of your brow and work your way to the outside. I use a dark brown eyeshadow from Coastal Scent Prism Palette here.

   5. Because my sister has a relatively small double eyelid close to a single one, so using matte finish scotch tape, I have manually cut out a double eyelid tape and place it right on the line where I want her double eyelid to be form. If you find cutting the shape too troublesome, you can actually buy the double eyelid tape where it comes with the cut out shape and all you need to do is stick it on your eyelid. I think you can get them on eBay or if you are in Vancouver, you can buy it at Daiso for $2. This is a very popular trick in Asian countries. One more thing, the reason why one double eyelid sticker bigger than the other is because if you look at the previous picture, my sister's right eyelid has a more obvious double eyelid so I have to cut a small eyelid tape for the right eye so both eyes will look even.

The result:

As you can see, her eyes are much more even and bigger now

6. With an eyeshadow brush, apply pantone 13-5313 eyeshadow from the Sephora Pantone palette all over the eyelid, I have also use this colour as an eyeliner to outline her lower lash line

7. With a crease brush, apply pantone 18-5606 eyeshadow from Sephora Pantone Palette along the crease line and give it a dramatic cat eye flick at the end as shown

8. Using L'oreal gel eyeliner, apply an eyeline on the upper lash line. Starting from the inner corner of your eye and work you way to the outer edge of your eyes and don't forget to give it a little flick at the end.

9. Since my sister has a darker skin tone than I do, I can actually use Makeup For Ever Camouflage Cream Palette as highlight on the forehead, nose bridge, chin and the tip of your upper lips. I am absolutely in love with this cream palette, not only can I use it as concealer, I also use it as highlight as well as contouring my face.

10. Using Too Faced bronzer, apply it on the side of your cheek and your forehead. This will make your face appear to slimmer and more oval if you have a rounder face.

11.  With The Body Shop Lily Lole Lip & Cheek Dome, apply it on the apples of your cheek

12. Because my sister has thin lips, using NYX lip liner, I have outline her lips first before applying Joe nude lipstick. My sister also has a relatively dry lips, so I also apply Smith's Rosebud Salve lip balm to moisturize her lips

And Voila!
Summary of makeup I use for this look: 1. Joe Nude Cream Lipstick 2. L'oreal gel eyeliner 3. Revlon PhotoReady Foundation 4. MAC Fix+ Spray 5. The Body Shop Lily Lole Lip & Cheek Dome 6. Scotch Matte Finish Tape 7. Too Faced Bronzer 8. Smith's Rosebud Salve Lip Balm 9. The brushes I used, now that looking at the picture, I think I missed a few brushes :b 10. NYX lip liner and eye liner 11. Make Up For Ever Camouflage Cream Palette
Thank you so much for all your wonderful comments! Have a fabulous evening everyone!

Love It or Lose It Contest

I need your help! I just joined a Love It or Lose It fashion contest at a local shopping mall Metrotown. The winner or the loser will win a grand prize of $1000 gift card and a makeover.

All you need to do is

- like Metrotown at Metropolis page here

- click love it on my look here

I know this is purely a popularity contest more than a fashion contest and the chances of a plain girl as me winning is very low but I am not gonna give up just yet. So if you have a minute and like my looks, please help me win this contest. Thank you!!!

If you are from Vancouver and are interested in joining the contest, here is how:

- like Metrotown at Metropolis page here

- Upload your looks on their Facebook page or get your photo taken at Metrotown Love it or Lose it photo booth
As I mentioned from last post, my photo studio is ready to go. The backdrop only cost me around $50! Pretty good deal I think! Back to my first look at my photo studio, this look is inspired by Yayoi Kusama, the princess of polka dot. I didn't think of this before, but when I saw the actual pictures, the black polka dots on my face sure look like huge moles! Don't you think :/ Let me know what you think!

 What I am wearing:
Polka dot peplum top - Charlotte Rousse
Dress wear as skirt - Forever 21
Black wedges - Spring
Bracelet and ring - H&M
Clutch - Vintage gift from friend

This vintage clutch is gifted from a friend of mine and she told me this is actually 30 years old!!

Thank you all for the lovely comments! Heads up for a new makeup tutorial on my next post. This time, instead of applying the look on me, you get to see my sister in fierce look! Stay tune!

Have an awesome evening everyone!

Last Photoshoot!

Just Kidding! I will stick around in the blogosphere even if you don't want to see me haha. However this is really the last photoshoot that will be taken outdoor because my photo studio is all ready and waiting for me to use it YAY! I can't wait to share with you :) Finally no more rude criticism by random jerks, no more weird stares and no more calling me a slut or whore (Yup, I was called this once by a random know-nothing-about-fashion bastard)! A BIG thank you to my boyfriend who made all of this happen!!!

I know I said I love Halloween before but after I found out it is a celebration of the dead and demons I decided to quit this celebration. (yes, I am such a dumbass to know this just recently and you ask how I found this out: from a tv series, Supernatural) Even though I just said I won't celebrate Halloween anymore, my look today actually look somewhat like a Halloween costume now that I look at the pictures. This look is inspired by Sally from Nightmare before Christmas and the tv series Walking Dead. Maybe this can give you some inspiration for a Halloween costume ;)

What I am wearing:
Navy Blue Chiffon Blouse - American Apparel
Galaxy print top - Brandy Melville
Tutu skirt - Spirit Halloween
Boots - Plenty
Necklace - Forever 21
Ring - Ardene

Thank you for the kind comments and stopping by! My next photoshoot will be taken in my new photo studio/garage, heads up for that :) Have an awesome weekend everyone!

From A Garage to A Photo Studio

Today's blog post will be a relatively short one as I am in the midst of turning my garage into a photo studio. You ask why? Because school is starting and I don't want to cause any heart attacks for the students. Yesterday, my boyfriend and I spent the entire day cleaning up the garage. A very rough and tiring day indeed but on a brighter note, both of us were able to find some goodies that we can re-use. My boyfriend found some speakers and a printer that he can make use of at his place while I found some clothes that I can wear for future looks. Currently we are still working on creating a backdrop in the garage. When it's done, I will definitely post up some pictures to share with you all.

Today I brought you my first look after my vacation which I named this look the metallic warrior. Let me know what you guys think!

 What I am wearing:
Tuque and ring - H&M
Top, scarf and bag - gifted
leggings - Urban Behavior
Heels - Zara
Necklace - Gap

A new pair of heels to add to my shoe collection :)
When my boyfriend and I first got together, this was the bag he bought me. When I first got it, I thought to myself what a horrible taste he has. Few year after, I was actually able to use it and style with this look. What do you think?

Thank you all for the kind comments! Hope you like my new look! Until next time, see ya all!
